Terms and Conditions

Lessons:

Lessons are held once a week during the school term at a time that suits you. You can choose between 20 or 30 minute lessons. Longer lessons and holiday lessons are available upon request, so please feel free to ask. Adult students may also continue lessons during school holidays if this is more convenient.

Enrolments:

Enrolment can be done at any time using the enrolment form available here. Lessons can begin at any time, even in the middle of a term. However, once you enrol, your lesson slot will be reserved exclusively for you, and you will be on my lesson list for the remainder of the current year unless you inform me otherwise. Please see Cancellation and Refund Policy below for stopping lessons.

Accounts:

Invoices for the term will be issued at the start of each term  and payment details will be included on the invoices. Payments  can be paid  in one lot or in two half-term lots, at your discretion. If alternative arrangements are needed, please discuss them with me. Payments are due at the start of each term or half-term.

For adult students who are not following the school term schedule, payments can be made in 5 or 10 week blocks.

If the full term payment is not made by the end of the school term (i.e., by the last Friday of the term) it becomes overdue and a late fee of $5 will apply. Your invoice will be reissued. If payments are significantly delayed, you may be subject to debt collection.

A general account is sent out at the start of each term. Reminders will be sent during the term.

Cancellation and Refund Policy:

If you wish to discontinue lessons, it is essential that you inform me before the next term begins and before the next invoice is issued. If notice is not given before the new term starts, a cancellation fee equivalent to one lesson will be charged to cover the reserved lesson time.

Once a term or half-term has begun, tuition is non-refundable, as your lesson space, preparation time, and resources have been allocated for the full period.

In exceptional circumstances — such as serious illness or relocation — please contact me to discuss possible options.

Lesson spaces automatically roll over from term to term, so please ensure you cancel at the end of a term if you do not wish to continue into the next one.

Absences:

If you are unable to attend a lesson due to appointments, holidays, illness, or any other reason, please let me know as soon as possible. Lesson times are reserved exclusively for you or your child, and missed lessons are still charged.

After School Home Lessons

1.At Least 24 hours notice:

When sufficient notice is given, we can look at rescheduling the lesson within the current term or during the school holidays, depending on availability.
Please note that rescheduled lessons are subject to availability and may not always be possible.

2.Within 24 hours notice:

If you notify me before 9:00 am on the day of your lesson, you may choose one of the following options.

    1.  Zoom lessons:

Have the lesson via Zoom at the regular time if you’re mildly unwell or cannot attend in person.

   2. Work for Review:

You may send me an audio or video recording of your current work (pieces, scales, technical exercises, compositions, etc.).
If needed, please include a photo of your music so I can follow along.
I will then review it and provide feedback.

Work for review must be submitted within 2 weeks of the missed lesson.

 Late Notice:

If notice is given after 9:00 am, no alternative lesson or review is available  and the lesson is considered missed and payable.

School Lessons:

Due to the fixed school timetable, flexibility is more limited than for home lessons.

1.At Least 24 hours notice:

However, if at least 24 hours’ notice is given, it may be possible to arrange a same-day swap(  eg an important school activity or appointment that clashes with the lesson time. This gives me time to arrange the swap with another student.  Please note that this is dependent on availability and cannot be guaranteed.

If a student is absent (e.g. due to illness, school camp, or other full day commitments) work may be submitted for review (see “Work for review” in the home lesson section).

2.Within 24 hours notice:

Lessons cancelled within 24 hours’ notice are considered missed and are payable.

Teacher Absences

If I need to cancel a lesson for any reason, the lesson will be rescheduled to another time that week, or to a suitable time during the term or school holidays.
